Kalamata Olive Tree Growing Conditions
Depending upon growing conditions and pruning practices the kalamata olive tree can eventually grow to a height of 18 to 20 tall and 10 to 12 wide in most us growing zones.

It produces an attractive deep reddish purple fruit. Somewhat susceptible to olive leaf spot and verticillium wilt but resistant to olive knot.
Beginning of bearing is intermediate. The trees grow close to the ionian sea in the kalamata region of southern greece. A small growing tree that has leather like thin leaves which are green with silver undersides. Not suited to the tropics they will grow well in temperate climates and even along coastal areas.
However they can easily be pruned to be smaller more manageable in size and fuller in appearance. An olive that is used as a great table olive. Kalamata olives are fairly large as are the trees foliage which also have a torpedo skin and split. Climate olive trees are native to the mediterranean so they thrive in a climate where the summer is long hot and dry and the winter is cool they re quite frost tolerant.
